Southern flair in the air
You don’t always have to go to Lake Garda to experience Mediterranean flair. On the contrary. One of the most beautiful regions for cycling in South Tyrol is the area around Lake Kaltern/Caldaro. It’s worth stopping here and simply exploring Unterland/Bassa Atesina and Überetsch/Oltradige at your leisure.
There’s a lot to discover here: red and white wine, small and large wine cellars, well-known and undiscovered lakes, a northern and a southern wine road, straight and winding bike paths, wild garlic ravioli and Unterland/Bassa Atesina polenta – or ‘Plent’ as the locals call it.
