General description

An enjoyable tour to Malettes a great viewpoint above Mals

Route description

The leisurely tour starts at the train station in Mals. Go through the beautiful centre, and enjyo the romanesuqe houses. Progress north to the edge of the village in direction of Malettes. There, follow the gravelled military road no. 12 slightly uphill to the Malettes plateau at 1.606 m. Once you have reached the top, you can enjoy the magnificent view of the mountain panorama of the Ortler group and the Upper Vinschgau on the 4-metre-high swing. Next to it stand on the viewing platform with engraved names of the surrounding mountain peaks. Cycle back on the sunny slope toward Muntetschinig to stop for a traditional snack at the Rainalter tavern. Afterwards, the route goes leisurely downhill along the "Matscher" path to the centre of Mals.
Tip
: Sources argue that there are particular legends about the Malettesböden. According to this speaking rabbits are in charge on the bottoms above Mals...
