Highland Tour to the Coltrondo Alpine Pasture

Start in Sesto/Moso at the Bike Hotel Alpenblick ****s along forest road no. 13 towards Malga Alpe Nemes hut. After a hard ascent of about 4 km, you reach a high plateau “the Saumahd" (1,750), continue along this to the Nemes alpine meadow (1,877), turn left just before the hut towards Kniebergsattel/Passo Silvella.  After about 3 km, follow the Coltrondo Hut sign to the Coltrondo hut (1,850). Continue from the Coltrondo hut along the road, turning right after around 500 m into hiking trail no. 149 towards the Passo di Monte Croce di Comélico. This starts fairly flowing but the middle section then becomes technically demanding towards Passo di Monte Croce di Comélico. At the Alpe di Nemes crossroads, turn right into hiking trail no. 130 towards “Schwarzsee”. Turn left towards the campsite, the trail from here is again a cool, partially challenging trail with lots of roots passing the campsite to the valley station of the “Tre Cime di Lavaredo cable car” and the “Pollaio Hut”. Turn right at the “Pollaio Hut” and the Sesto circular path takes you back to Sesto/Moso to the Bike Hotel Alpenblick ****s.

Tip: For bikers less technically skilled, it is possible to avoid the difficult middle section to the Coltrondo Hut, i.e. simply take the next entrance to the Passo di Monte Croce di Comélico via Krötensee.​
