To Monte Elmo via Baita del Cacciatore hut to the forest chapel

Start in Sesto/Moso from the Bike Hotel Alpenblick ****s towards the main village of Sesto to the parish church and from here take the panoramic road to Mezzomonte (1,600 km). Turn left towards Rifugio Larice (1,800) and continue up to the mountain station of Monte Elmo (2,040), shortly before this take the exit to Baita del Cacciatore hut (1,800). Enjoy a hearty snack with spectacular views of the Sesto Sundial from the terrace of the mountain hut. Then descend along a forest road, continue for around 1 km past the fork at “Gasthof Waldruhe/Sesto” along the castle road towards San Candido and then turn left to the forest chapel, this stopover is definitely worthwhile. The forest chapel is hidden in a wooded area in a particularly mystical place, which served as a hiding place in which to hold religious services during the First World War, from here head along the “Mühlensteig”, continue onto the “Besinnungsweg” and “Lanerweg” back to Sesto/Moso to the Bike Hotel Alpenblick ****s.
