Monticolo/Montiggl

A short MTB tour from Appiano in the Monticolo Forest. Here bikers can really let off steam on the many trails. The route leads along the Maria Rast Weg/Strada Madonna del Riposo to Cornaiano and further onto the idyllic village of Schreckbichl/Colterenzio. From here, the tour continues on gravel into the Monticolo forest and around the Wilder Mann Bühel or Wild Man of Monticolo. Then you come to the Hirschplätzen/Piazzi dei Cervi, from where you can enjoy a splendid view over the Monticolo Lakes. A racy trail leads down to the large Monticolo Lake, which is very inviting for swimming (refreshment facilities). Here, scores of unmarked paths lead through the forest and await discovery by adventurous bikers. We take leave of Monticolo on a short, but undulating downhill stretch and ride through the orchards and back to the departure point.
