Across the Salto/Salten
From hustle and bustle to peace and quiet
Mountainbike
This splendid MTB circuit brings the biker out of the hectic bustle of the regional capital, Bolzano up to the peaceful, welcoming plateau of the Salto. The descent follows challenging trails to Vilpiano in the Val d'Adige. First, you take the road towards San Genesio. Here, you have to cycle through two short tunnels, so do not forget lights on your bike. Shortly after this, the tour takes you uphill along an old, hardly used, steep road to Cologna and the Locher. From here, on gravel and undulating paths over the Salto to the Tschaufenhaus (refreshment facilities). Then the racy descent can begin. To start with, there are a few technical sections to negotiate, and then you are on undulating trails with several narrow switchbacks down into Vilpiano. You cycle on asphalt through the villages of Terlano and Settequerce back to the point of departure.
