Brennero/Brenner Frontier Ridge

If you think that the Brennero is just a national frontier or a pass busy with traffic crossing the border, you are wrong. There is a little biker's Eldora with magnificent trails on the Brennero frontier ridge. From Terme di Brennero the trail leads along the old military road, through many tunnels up into the mountains. Above the tree line the surface becomes gravel and the trail winds past peaceful Alpine meadows high up to the Brennero frontier ridge. Here you can explore the Brennero ridge with its many abandoned military bases to your heart's content and enjoy the splendid view over the surrounding mountain world. In front of the Steinjoch an undulating trail leads down to the Hofer Alm. From here, you ride on gravel down to the valley floor, or you can choose the more challenging, but rewarding path which descends steeply to the Brennero. Then you pedal comfortably back to the departure point along the cycle track.
