Passeiertal cycle path
E-Bike & Pleasure Cycling
This is a long but easy tour, with little difference in altitude, which leads mostly along gravel roads through the Passeiertal valley and into the main town of St. Leonhard.
At the Post bridge (east end city centre), follow the cycle path signs through the Elisabethpark (marble statue), where pedestrians and cyclists share the promenade. Shortly before the Roman bridge the path leads in sharp bends right upwards, then immediately left over a steep section to an underpass (main road to Passeiertal) at the end of the town. After the underpass, the tour turns left and continues on the bike path until the Passer river is reached. Proceed along the left bank of the river, where a crossing is possible over a modern steel bridge, and continue straight ahead, past the Riffian football field to the bridge below the valley station of the Hirzer cable car. After the bridge turn right (campsite). Shortly afterward, the large resort Quellenhof will be passed and the tour then carries on via St. Martin to St. Leonhard. The path is well signposted.
Drive to Merano. There are many paid parking lots in the area. Free parking is available at the Praderplatz across from the train station.
